Any greyhound that races 100 times has special qualities, but the story behind Twistex – and more specifically his trainer, Toni Jones – is truly inspirational.
Toni, of Devon Meadows, has a genetic eye condition call Retinitis Pigmentosa, meaning she needs to walk with assistance whether it be with her stick or her seeing eye dog.
Despite her condition, she has a hands-on involvement like any trainer does at the races.
“Most of the dogs are pretty good. They know when I’m having a bad night and they’ll really stick close to me,” Toni said.
