A FORMER prominent NSW trainer has been banned from the sport until 2039 after one of his greyhounds returned yet another positive swab.
Mark Azzopardi was the subject of a Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) stewards’ inquiry charged with presenting his greyhound, Very Choosy, to race when not free of drugs when it competed at Bathurst on September 19, 2016.
A post-race urine sample taken from the greyhound indicated the presence of caffeine and its metabolites theophylline, paraxanthine and theobromine.
