Weblec Eagle was the ‘star of the show’ in the Group 1 Sale Cup (650m) last night.
But the ‘support acts’ also put their names up in lights on Sale GRC’s night of nights.
And none more so than Aston Nino (24.76sec), who took out a $10,000 first prize in the Rising Star final (440m).
Trained at Rowsley by Anthony Azzopardi, Aston Nino emulated the feat of his kennelmate – G1 Melbourne Cup hero Whiskey Riot – who won last year’s event.
Whiskey Riot has since gone on to stardom, and now the question is: can Aston Nino follow in those illustrious footsteps.
