Today has been declared a Code Red Day in the Mallee and Northern Country Districts, and a Total Fire Ban has been declared across the State.
Emergency Management Victoria advises that if a fire starts in the conditions predicted today it will be uncontrollable, unpredictable and fast-moving.
There is a high likelihood that people in the path of a fire will be killed or seriously injured in these conditions, according to EMV.
Greyhound racing participants in the Mallee and Northern Country Districts should enact their emergency management plan and keep abreast of all fire-related information affecting their areas.
