DYNA Double One was the standout performer in Saturday night’s heats of the Group 2 WA Derby, running a sizzling 30.10 over the 530-metre trip at Cannington.
Beginning moderately from box five, the son of Barcia Bale and Crystin Bale got plenty of room to move in the early stages and was able to balance up, sitting just behind the early leader Sette Bello heading around the first turn.
The big, black dog slipped into another gear down the back, storming to the lead and shooting clear to score by eight lengths over fellow Victorian, Berzerk.
