THE finest female greyhounds will step out on Thursday night to contest the heats of the Group 1 Sapphire Crown (515m) at Sandown Park.
The race was first run in 1974 and since that time it has been won by some of the best bitches to have graced the sport, including Bogie Leigh (2003), Paua To Burn (2004 & 2005), Betty’s Angel (2006), Queen Lauryn (2008), Cindeen Shelby (2009) and Xylia Allen (2013).
